WEST LONDON MANUFACTURING SKILLS ROUNDTABLES
Putting employers at the heart of the local skills improvement agenda
London’s Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP)
The LSIP will be an employer-led, data driven plan to match skills and training provision to employer needs locally. Funded and backed by the Department for Education, London’s LSIP aims to help employers tackle your sector skills gaps, fill vacancies and get more local people into jobs.
What can you do to help?
Join us online, free of charge, for the manufacturing sector roundtable to have your views heard and review our initial research on:
- manufacturing skills in West London
- Hard-to-fill vacancies and their skills needs
- Likely future trends
- Current training provision and possible gaps
- Emerging recommendations
… your contributions will shape the in-person discussions at the West London Skills Summit on Wednesday, 25 January 2023, which will directly inform the West London Annex report.
LSIPs are being developed all around England, with BusinessLDN leading the programme pan-London. The West London “annex” to the London LSIP is being developed by West London Business in partnership with West London Alliance. The aim of the sub-regional annex is to put businesses and employers at the heart of the local skills improvement agenda, ensuring that the skills/training system meets your needs.
Why does it matter?
Ensuring your current and future workforce has the right skills to build successful careers and add maximum value to your organisation is always important. Yet in an exceptionally tight labour market, and with an urgency to getting our economy back to growth, setting up our skills system for success is more important than ever. This process will bring together local employers and skills/training providers to unpick specific gaps or changes needed in provision and to make the necessary recommendations for change to Department of Education.
Places are limited and will be assigned on a first-come-first-served basis.
The key stakeholders for the roundtables are employers/ businesses. If we are oversubscribed, we may ask some education stakeholders to step back from these roundtables and instead prioritise joining us at the summit on Weds 25 January.
