SDF Green Skills Project

As part of the SDF programme, West London Business was funded in 2022/23 by HM Government to offer free support sessions to small and medium businesses (Training Needs Analysis). These sessions – with the support of a trained facilitator and an industry expert – were designed to give businesses a better idea of their workforce needs and how their skills could be enhanced to meet the growing demand for environmentally sustainable services. The tailored analysis was available on a first come, first served basis as spaces were limited. The final report was launched in May 2023.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has set a target for London to achieve net zero carbon by 2030. To support this ambition, as part of this project West London Business worked with local Further Education colleges to review current and future training needs of small businesses and improve the way that these needs are met. This was informed by the Training Needs Analyses.

Extensive research has been commissioned by the West London Alliance identifying a significant skills deficit in green skills among West London employers, with a lack of suitable talent being one of the key barriers for to business development.
