University of West London’s Graduate Showcase 2016 closes with fantastic VIP night

An excited audience gathered in the University of West London’s (UWL) Lawrence Hall for the 2016 Graduate Showcase fashion show. Artistic Director of the show, Visiting Professor Ronit Zilkha, has been working with the students all year in the build-up to their graduating showcase event, and students were quick to say how inspiring she has been.

Each designer had worked hard not just on their collection, but also on a short film to introduce their collection and a logo representing their brand. Their designs were many and varied – both men’s and women’s collections, demonstrating skills with knitwear, tailoring and even metalwork.
Julija Nova presented some bold knitwear designs, including tops with structured collars and wide-leg trousers and skirts with structured hems, while Nikki Sheikaly’s Persian Alchemy collection featured full skirts in bright, graduated colours.

Eliziane Dalcomune’s designs included intricate dresses and skirts shown by models wearing vertiginous heels. She said,

‘The course has been amazing. I was a bit nervous, but am so happy to be part of the final catwalk show.’

Head of Design Damian Chapman said,

‘The students have worked incredibly hard to get to this stage, and the show was a fantastic display of their achievements. This is their first step into the world of fashion, and we wish them every success with their future endeavours.’
For the first time, the Graduate Showcase fashion show was live streamed on YouTube. The exhibition and installations will be running until Saturdayand the VIP finale event will be live streamed.
