With the General Election around the corner, West London Business (WLB) today shares its manifesto which includes themes we have been advocating for our members with over many years. From our latest efforts to draw attention to the issues around West London energy supply constraints – to the case for the West London Orbital railway, we look forward to discussing these priorities with newly elected MPs in the coming months.

The manifesto spans six themes, namely:

  • Inclusive employment
  • Innovation and growth
  • Education and skills
  • The built environment
  • Climate change
  • Energy and infrastructure

Foremost amongst our policy asks at present is the need for investment in the high voltage electricity transmission network serving West London to be given significant priority by the new Government. The latest research indicates urgent grid reinforcement upwards of 2,300MVA is needed in the coming years.

Taken together we believe our policy recommendations, if implemented, will substantially increase West London’s productivity, so we can support the resilience and sustainable growth of the wider UK economy.

Whether you live in West London or further afield, don’t forget to cast your ballot on polling day – Thursday 4 July.
